In April 2010, Family Service of the Piedmont presented its CARE Award to Records Administrator Chris Rockwell in recognition of the outstanding level of care she provides to clients and colleagues.

“Chris’s work is behind-the-scenes client care—care our clients are typically not aware of,” said Family Service President & CEO Tom Campbell, reading comments of Rockwell’s co-workers who nominated her for the award. “She is the proprietor of our records, always keeping client information and confidentiality in the forefront. Her efforts in this area speak to client safety in one of the most ethically important matters: protection of their information. Without Chris, many of our clients’ disability records requests and the confidentiality of their information would never be executed or preserved.”

Campbell also praised Rockwell for her leading role in the implementation of Family Service’s new client record management computer system. The changeover has been challenging, he acknowledged, but ultimately beneficial in terms of accuracy and efficiency of record processing. “Chris has exhibited huge patience and helpfulness throughout this process,” he said. “With a smile and a generous spirit, Chris is always willing to help. She has demonstrated nothing but the heart of a teacher during the transition to the new system.”

“Chris has encouraged all of us to lean on each other for support and information sharing,” said one Family Service staff member who nominated Rockwell for the award. “She has never once made me feel like the student and she the teacher. With Chris, I always know we’re in this together and can learn from each other.”

“No matter what, I trust Chris with our client information,” the staff member concluded. “I trust her to lead me in the right direction.”
